gorgeous rural glamping

Deerland Safari, Dorset.

2 Bedrooms 4 persons FRIDAY changeover

What stands out about this Dorset glamping Safari tent? The epic private location - and you have this field all to yourselves.

Imagine lying in a grassland meadow in the middle of a 75 acre organic farm, bees and butterflies are busy about the flowers, buzzards glide overhead and a few deer graze idly near the woods and right next to you is your holiday pad - this fabulous family safari tent! The whole farm is in a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' and some of it is also of 'Special Nature Conservation Interest' - as you can imagine, it's rather special out here.

The Safari is elegantly poised at the top of a gently sloping meadow with sweeping views over the Dorset countryside and woodlands to the fore. The woods are home to wild Fallow and Roe deer who very nicely provided us with the inspiration for the decor theme (along with a little 'Highland' input). If you are quiet enough it's quite likely you will see them grazing along the edge of the woodlands.

The main feature of the open plan living space is the super comfy dining set, one could certainly while away a few happy hours here - too easy to take a nap! Move it out onto the decking for al-fresco meals with amazing views.

At the back of the tent are two generous bedrooms, one with bunk beds and one with a double. They are separated from the main living space and each other by a wooden partition providing a degree of privacy and noise reduction - rather handy when you've put the kiddies to bed. All bedding is provided and a portable gas heater keeps chilly evenings comfortable.

Nearby a (slightly Gothic!) wooden hut houses the loo (child seat available), and hot shower enclosure. Towels are provided.

This glamping safari tent has a particularly generous decked veranda where you can sit undercover but still soak up the view, if you love sitting in the open air watching the world go by, this spot would be hard to beat. A large BBQ is provided, and a picnic bench, which you can move about to wherever suits.

The Site
Is a 75 acre organic farm privately owned by two of the nicest people you'll ever meet, Lesley and Julian are fabulous hosts and have created an amazing Dorset glamping holiday. The owners have horses, so if you want to bring your own along, stabling or grass keep can be provided (small fee applies, please contact us for details).

As well as deer, your neighbours will include badgers, buzzards, foxes, pheasants and even ravens. In summer the wild flowers in the meadows attract many moths and butterflies. It's nothing short of a nature lover's paradise. And if you have a horse, you can bring him or her along too!

Dorset is a stunning county, with verdant countryside and three-quarters of the coastline classed as a World Heritage Site featuring prominent landforms such as Lulworth Cove, the Isle of Portland, Chesil Beach and Durdle Door. There's plenty to do and see on this family glamping holiday near the gorgeous Dorset coast.
