Enjoy a rural romantic hot tub retreat for two in the rolling Dorset hills at the beautiful, off-grid shepherd’s hut, Arabella. Get away from the rat race to idyllic countryside as far as the eye can see, to the heart of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Leave your electricals at home for a full digital detox, and instead, become reconnected with your senses. Smell wild flowers, wisteria and bonfires. Hear the song of the skylark instead of traffic noise. See the beautiful forest garden surrounding the hut, with Pilsdon Pen and Eggardon hill forts in the distance, as well as unrestricted starscapes at night, miles away from light pollution. Feel the bubbles on your skin as you soak in the hot tub. Let your mobile drain as you re-charge your batteries and body clock in this mindful expanse of countryside.
This is off-grid at its best – solar panels allow for a hot shower in a private en-suite bathroom with flushing toilet. A zeer pot underneath Arabella keeps your milk cook for when you fancy a cuppa. A wood fired hot tub provides a little luxury for your limbs after a day of adventures in the Dorset hills. And snuggle into a king-sized bed under a feather duvet, in the glow of hurricane lamps and your own log burner – bliss!
And as if this wasn’t enough from a site that is conscious of its carbon footprint, Arabella offers the luxury of its own wood-fired hot tub in a private location, so that you can sit with a glass of wine whilst looking out over one of the most beautiful locations in Great Britain.
Not only is the view you’ll look out on be the same as the one novelist Thomas Hardy looked out on nearly 100 years ago whilst writing “Jude the Obscure”, it’s only a few miles from the outstanding Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. There’s plenty of spots in this part of the world in which you can immerse yourself in natural beauty, off site or on it.
Owners Tracy and James live nearby in their own eco-home, and are happy to offer lamb chops, fresh eggs and seasonal salad from their sustainable organic farm shop on-site. It’s not only the huts that live lightly on the land – it’s the ethos of the family that run the site, too.
Please note that Shepherds Hut Jude, also listed on this website, can also be booked to accommodate for larger groups.
