Bramble Shepherd's Hut, Devon.
Unsuitable for children
Shepherd's Hut glamping in Devon - a romantic Shepherd's Hut tucked away in the trees of an Equestrian Centre along with two Safari Tents further along the path. With its rustic style and private facilities Bramble provides a vintage style retreat for
two with creative little touches
such as recycled windows, up-cycled tea-towel curtains and country
china. The Centre is on the edge of the Devon moors, with an amazing array of wildlife, birds, ponies and otters.
This cute Shepherd's hut has a proper double bed - all made up and ready for you, a cooking worktop with camping hob, sink (cold supply) and utensils. A table and chairs near the pot bellied stove provide a cosy spot for meals and drinks.
Behind Bramble is a smaller hut housing the hot shower on one side, and camp style loo with Victorian style water jug and basin on the other. Towels are provided.
The hut has its own covered veranda at the front (a handy spot for reading and generally lazing about!) overlooking the tree dotted grounds and well tended path to the safari tents. The hut also has its own fire pit for outdoor campfires and making the most of night time starry skies.
The site is a privately owned Equestrian Centre which includes stabling and the owners' house. There is an honesty shop for logs and basic provisions on the car park area, a few meters from the hut. This is one of three glamping abodes on site, two quality safari tents Birch and Willow are about 20 meters away, all can be booked together for a larger group.
Adjacent is the Venn Ottery reserve with over 40 species of birds, and the Devon moorland horses which can sometimes be seen seen poking their heads over the fence!
Devon has many interesting attractions and natural sites. The coast is 20 minutes away with Jurassic geology. Check out independent eateries such as the 'The Pea Green Boat cafe' on the Sidmouth water front serving good quality food and wines.
