Robin Showman's Wagon, Cardigan.
Unsuitable for children
This romantic glamping wagon commands a most envious position at the top of a field with sensational views across the valley to mountains in the distance. Built around 1950 in Hay on Wye, the Wagon has been refurbished to provide a bright, retro style glamping break near Rhayader in the Wye Valley.
The interior has retained most of its original features creating a tangible nostalgic atmosphere. Up the steps, you enter the cute kitchen, with just enough mod cons to make it usable without spoiling the vibe. Next door the sitting room has a distinctly retro feel with its period features, we particularly love the old light fittings and the log burner makes winter breaks here a pleasure. Comfy chairs have replaced the old bench seats making this a charming space to relax in and finish a book or craft project, with views of mossy oak trees and woodland birds as your only distraction... hard life!
At the end of the wagon facing the valley is the bedroom with cabin bed (a little hop up is required!) with its carefully chosen fresh new linens. Take a peek through the little window to the gorgeous views and know that you have this magical space all to yourselves.
The nearby barn now houses a private shower wet-room with flushing loo and heated towel rail with warm, fluffy towels. There’s also a washing up ‘cupboard’ with a large Belfast sink (H&C), and a log store with an honesty box for extra baskets of logs. The barn provides a handy sheltered spot for a BBQ and some general outdoor lazing about!
Is a 200-acre organic farm with river Wye frontage, a badger watching hide and ancient woodlands. A couple of fields away is the owner's house and Farmyard barn with a shared laundry room, games room and 'resource room'. You will find information about the local flora and fauna and free wifi. There’s even a CCTV from the badger hide in the woods. If you want to get interactive, there are friendly farm animals, wild places, fantastic walks, excellent bird and badger watching, paddling and swimming in the river Wye.
The Showman's Wagon sits in the corner of a secluded field near oak and hawthorn trees, with open meadows below and a gently sloping hillside behind. It is one of the most stunning locations we’ve seen! A couple of fields away the Goldfinch Gypsy Wagon is tucked away in its own little camp space too.
