It’s that time of year again folks, the time to make significant changes to aspects of your life you’re not completely happy with for a healthier and happier self. That’s if you stick to them at least. One popular New Year’s resolution for 2017 is to be more eco-friendly in the upcoming year. A great way to kick start this goal is by swapping the yearly Benidorm trip for a stay in our beautiful eco cabins. Here are our top 8 green resolutions for you and your family to try out in 2017:

How you can help look after our planet in 2017.

Bring your own shopping bags

Carrying a reusable bag on the move is one of the easiest ways to reduce ocean pollution and prevent unnecessary sea mammal deaths. Plastic bags constitute the second most prevalent form of litter, beaten only by cigarette butts, and 4 billion of them end up caught in the wind and littering the planet we love. No one likes shelling out 5p for a bag anyway right?

Cook from scratch

A difficult target to keep to in terms of convenience, but by no means impossible. By batch cooking, meal planning and following recipes that specialise in quick and easy preparation you will reduce your carbon footprint and probably be healthier as a result. Two birds, one stone and no major lifestyle changes…perfect!

Organic eating

The extra cost that comes from buying organic produce is minimal, considering the avoidance of eating GMOs, toxic pesticides or sewage sludge is priceless. Not only will you be able to enjoy meals with a clear conscience, but if you buy within your region you’re also supporting the local economy. One stone, how many birds?!

Eat less meat

The industrialised way in which most livestock is raised in inhumane, unhealthy and extremely unsustainable. Meat-lovers, chill out, you don’t have to go cold turkey. Eating less meat, but making sure it’s nutritious, organic and fairly-sourced is just as effective as vegetarianism.

Avoid fast fashion

With current high street giants offering a magnitude of unbelievable prices for merchandise, it almost seems too good to be true – probably because it is. Asian and Indian farmers infiltrate fertile soils to feed our desire for new plain black tees instead of using it to grow food for their hungry people. Consider doing clothes swaps with friends or hitting the local charity shop for an equally economic bargain.

BYOwB (Bring your own water bottle)

To put it bluntly, plastic bottles are the worst. They have detrimental effects on the environment, as well as devastating consequences for wildlife that is unfortunate enough to come across it. Start treating your bottle like your phone, and take it everywhere with you!

Hang up your washing

It’s time to say smell you later to the resource-exhausting tumble driers and start hanging up your damp clothes outside. Reduce your carbon dioxide emissions and buy a clothes horse – you won’t look back!

Walk, bike, Uber

One final way to protect the planet is by ditching the wheels – unless they’re bike wheels – for good, unless it is absolutely necessary. The 21st century has introduced a whole realm of opportunities for people to communicate long-distance as well as improved public transport links. There is now very little reason to jump in the car, so embrace it and use the roads as little as possible – unless you’re on a bike.

Give these fantastic resolutions a go in 2017 and work together for a more environmentally-friendly future. Remember, glamping is one of the most eco-friendly ways of taking a holiday and relaxing, and provides you the ideal opportunity to get up close and personal with nature, reminding yourself why the planet is worth saving in the first place.
