We know you may already be tired of hearing the clichéd line of “new year, new me” from every man and his dog, but there is something to be said for what the new year can bring you in terms of opportunity for a new start, should you wish to embrace it. Most people spend a certain amount of time reflecting on the previous year and make a decision to stick at what they’re doing, or make some steps towards changing things, which are all subjective, of course. Here at Quality Unearthed, as we’re sure you already know, travel and amazing destinations are paramount to the foundations of our plans. With that in mind, we’ve got five New Year’s resolutions that we think you should make and keep for 2016.
1. Embrace a digital detox
If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a hundred times, going unplugged from the digital world will be one of the best things you can do, and its already being tipped as one of the biggest travel trends for this year.
2. Look to travel more responsibly
Now is as good a time as any to reflect and evaluate how you can go on your holidays/travels and do something good. Your breaks can offer a significant force for important environmental and social shifting. Consider spending more of your money with local businesses, something which can easily be done on our glamping UK holidays. And while you’re at it, why not try offsetting your carbon impact?
3. Take on a new and unfamiliar experience
This can be as simple or as involved as you’d like to make it. If you’ve never stayed in a yurt or treehouse before, why not try it this year? If you’ve never foraged for lunch from the hedgerows near your home or luxury camping location, why not give that a go? (It’s worth sticking to berries and other such natural treats that you are familiar with to avoid making yourself ill if you eat the wrong thing).
4. Experience more of the great outdoors
This might seem like a resolution that is ridiculous given the kind of weather the UK is enduring at the moment, but come spring and summer time, when people are so content with cosy nights in, indoor pastimes and a few drinks in the pub by the fire, this will be more appealing. If you want to get the most from travels and outdoor-related breaks then you need to get, well, outdoors! You can discover some of the world’s most colourful destinations in Wales and England, and we bet you didn’t even realise there was so much beauty right on your doorstep!
5. Wake up to watch a sunrise
We understand the appeals and undeniable comfort the nice warm sanctuary of being under your bed sheets offers, but once you’ve escaped the allure of the cosy bed you’re in you’ll absolutely love the rewards Mother Nature serves up. There’s simply no getting away from the fact that some of the world’s most amazing experiences happen as dawn breaks. Try it, you won’t regret it!
