why autumn is the best season

It can be hard watching summer come to an end, but at the same time, one of the most beautiful seasons arrives. The weather turns crisp and the days get darker, but the colours of autumn make us feel warm. Autumn is a magical season, and instead of barbeques and relaxing on the beach, you can get nice and cosy by a fire, enjoy toasted marshmallows, carve pumpkins and go for a brisk walk in a magical and colourful setting.

These are only a handful of reasons why autumn is the best season, but in case you need convincing, we have put together a list of why we think this season just can’t be beaten.

The Weather

So, it may not be boiling sunshine, but instead, you wake up to crisp mornings and still have enough autumn sunshine to keep you happy. In the United Kingdom, the summer weather is never what we imagine but when cooler temperatures roll in, say hello to fires, comfy jumpers and blankets. It can be a great time to go glamping, camping, fishing or anything else where you can spend quality time with family and friends.

The Changes in Colours

You know when autumn arrives as the trees show off their spectacular colours. Even if autumn is not your favourite season, you have to admit that the colours are breathtaking. Nowhere is this transformation more evident than in the trees as one day the trees are green and in full bloom and the next they have begun turning to a golden brown or a deep red.

Food & Drink

In the summer, we often like to eat things like avocados, smoothies, salads and all things light and healthy. However, in the autumn it is all about comfort food and warming drinks like hot chocolate. Autumn is often a foodie’s favourite time of year as warm comfort food is back on the menu and salads make way for delicious meals. Home cooking is also back on the menu during the autumn, so enjoy some delicious roast dinners, stews, and warming soups with the whole family.

Cosy Evenings

Whether you are on glamping trip or snuggled up at home, a cosy evening with a few blankets has certainly been missed over the summer months. Just imagine sitting in front of a fire, entwined in a blanket with a good book. As the evenings tend to be chillier and also darker, nothing quite beats having the family gathered round and enjoying a drink and some family games.

Autumn can be one of the most spectacular times of year to enjoy a walk, especially through the woods or a forest. It is such a wonder when the leaves come alive with a kaleidoscope of colours. Look to explore woodlands, gardens, and parks, and you are sure to have plenty of opportunities for a fabulous photo.

For those with children, half-term is a welcomed break after the first term back from the long summer break. It is the perfect time of the year to take a well-deserved break before the run up to Christmas. There are plenty of great options for a half-term getaway like glamping which can be enjoyed all through the year and can be especially magical during this season. You can really get up and close to changing colours of the leaves when booking one of our treehouse holidays. There are plenty of activities and events on during the October half-term, due to the fact Halloween is often around that time.
