Generous wrap around decking extends the living space to the outside where there is a dining table and chairs, leisure furniture, pizza oven, fire bowl, an outdoor kitchen and even an outdoor shower. A gently sloping path leads up to a private, indulgent hot tub with views of the river. Just add a glass or two of chilled white wine. Heaven.
Riverside Lodge is almost equidistant between the ancient Cathedral city of Hereford, also standing alongside the river Wye and the vibrant market town of Hay on Wye.
Hereford is famous for its Mappa Mundi the largest known medieval map, dating from around 1300, hanging in the Cathedral, the Light Infantry Museum, Hereford Museum and Art Gallery housed in the black and white timber framed Old House and interesting shops, cafes and restaurants. Neo-classical Berrinton Hall and landscaped grounds cared for by the National Trust is well worth a visit.
Hay on Wye also know as the ‘Book Town’ is celebrated for its wealth of book shops lining almost every street. The annual Hay Festival is a feast of literature and arts with celebrities from far and wide taking part and spectating.
Delicious local cider and perry are made in the nearby village of Eardisley. Look out for the award winning Orgasmic Cider Company’s Brown Snout, Fox Whelp and White Jersey.
