new year, new adventure: alternative ways to holiday in 2018

2018 has only just begun, and the beginning of the year is usually made up of us trying to stick to New Year’s resolutions and working out a plan for the rest of the year. In the new year, we often think of new starts and getting ourselves out of our comfort zone and trying something completely new.

glamping 2018

As it is January and we have the rest of the year ahead, it always nice to have something to look forward to. So, with this being said, why not make 2018 about trying a different type of holiday that you aren’t used to? Instead of jetting off abroad this year, why not spend some time this year exploring the United Kingdom? We don’t often stray too far out of home counties, but there are so many incredible sites and life experiences out there, and you don’t have to travel too far away from your home!

If this sounds good to you, we have created a guide to help you make the most of the new year and find a new way to holiday in 2018.

Opt for a Staycation

Going abroad is a great way to see the rest of the world, but there is so much to already see right on our doorsteps! As we said before, taking the time to explore our own region can really open your eyes and leave you with some wonderful life-long memories.

With so much going on all around us, it might be time to explore what is on offer here; it may be time to put your passport away and find a new place to explore right here in the UK!

If you are new to the world of glamping, glamping gets its name from ‘glamorous camping’. This means that when you arrive on the site, everything is already set up and ready for you to stay, so there will be no need to pitch up a tent! However, one of the most special things about glamping is the range of unique abodes you can stay in. This means that each time you decide to opt for a glamping holiday, you can stay somewhere completely different.

So, you can forget the tent and a night of restless sleep but instead stay in an abode which is kitted out with all of the home comforts you desire. You will be treated with hotel-like hospitality and the creature comforts that help you to relax and feel at home while on holiday.

Glamping takes you to places that you have maybe not even believed existing before. As soon as you walk out of your abode, you will be immersed in nature, and it really doesn’t get much better than that.

Where to Stay

As mentioned above, one of the main things that get people so hooked on the glamping experience is the different types of abodes you can stay in. This can range from a yurt, eco pod, shepherd’s hut or carriage to a safari tent, cabin and even a treehouse.

All glamping abodes have their own quirks, which means that each one you stay in will never be the same. This will create a different experience each time you venture on a glamping holiday. Each abode will open your eyes up to something completely new and different, and depending on where the abode is based, you will have the opportunity to explore the surrounding area and immerse yourself in nature, food and experiences.

For example, a treehouse is one of the best ways to get closer to nature as how much closer can you really get than sleeping in a tree? Staying in a treehouse can be a unique experience, and probably won’t be something that you have come close to experiencing before. Imagine waking up in the morning, with a coffee in hand and looking out at your surroundings, or sat on a balcony or hot tub with a large glass of wine; sounds incredible, right? Still need convincing? Click here to read why you should take a treehouse holiday.

A year brings new starts, so this means that you can get out of your comfort zone or do something which you have always thought about but not committed to. Glamping is the perfect way to do all of the above, and with so many abodes and locations to choose from, you will be spoiled for choice!
