7 ideas for your winter glamping staycation

Winter is a special time of year, as the wildlife goes into hibernation, the landscape appears much wilder and the days become shorter. It can be a fantastic time to get away, to recuperate and recharge, either before or after the festive period. If you’re planning a glamping trip during the cooler months, here’s a few ideas of what you could get up to during your winter break.

Dip in the Ocean

Winter can be a time of slumber, as the clocks change, the nights draw in earlier and we all tend to feel a little slower. Many of us search for ways to get out of the lull that the season brings and motivate ourselves, and a dip in the ocean can do just that! Facing the elements can really make you feel alive, so, why not grab your wetsuit and go for a swim? Average sea temperatures range from 6-10 degrees in winter, but we’re sure that once you get moving, it’ll feel much warmer!

Star Gaze

Stargazing in Snowdonia

With a much drier air giving clarity to the night’s sky, winter is known to be one of the best seasons for evenings spent admiring the stunning constellations. The majority of our abodes are situated in quiet and secluded locations, meaning there will be minimal light pollution – perfect conditions for stargazing! Whether you choose to wrap up warm and head outdoors, or you’ve chosen to go glamping with a hot tub and you’re hoping to admire the night’s displays from the comfort of the warm and bubbling waters, it’s a timeless activity that the whole family will love.

Cook on a Campfire

Toasted marshmallows, anyone? If you’ve ever sat around a campfire before, you’ll know just how enjoyable it is. The warmth, gentle lighting and continual entertainment from the dancing flames is an uplifting and relaxing experience, and cooking on it can be equally as satisfying! Whether you’re frying meat, cooking up a vegetable soup or you’re in it for the sweet treats only, we’re sure it’ll be one of the most memorable parts of your break away. Although, don’t worry if this doesn’t sound to you like an idea of fun, as all of our glamping abodes have indoor cooking facilities.

Arts and Crafts

Holidays are a time to relax and to do the things you may not usually have time for when the normalities of life get in the way. Being crafty and creative is often one of the first things to be put on the back burner when things get busy, so your glamping staycation is the perfect opportunity to spend a while doing the arts and crafts you love!

Winter Walks

Pulling on your big socks, digging out your scarves, hats and gloves and going out on a blustery winter walk is a great way to boost your mood and get your blood pumping. The winter is a magical time to explore, so make the most of those outstanding views during your holiday and head out into the great outdoors.

Feast

Indulge in your culinary fantasies while you’re away; after all, holidays are a time to treat yourselves, right?! Browse the independent shops local to your accommodation and fill the cupboards with a selection of your favourite things. Rustling up meals and grabbing yourself a snack will be much more enjoyable if they’re made of the ingredients that you find most delicious!

Games

Holidays offer us the opportunity to spend some quality time with our nearest and dearest, so, make the most of the extra time on your hands and play some old school games! Whether you bring along a pack of cards, or your accommodation has got some board games for guests to use, laughs will be had!
