This charming Gypsy Wagon and Oak Lodge sit behind the cottage
orchard in a gently sloping field, taking in views over a small
wooded area with a stream babbling through it. There are no other
holiday accommodations on this site, so if you're looking for a
rural break with peace and privacy but not too far out in the
wilds, this might just be the ticket. Sitting on the outskirts of a
tiny Cheshire village, there is countryside and privacy, along with
a pub just a few minutes walk through the village.
The Wagon is an original gypsy wagon recently restored with pretty sari fabrics, fresh paintwork and a comfortable double mattress - to be honest there's not a lot of room for much else in a bowtop so right next door is a craftsman built oak-frame Lodge with a pretty garden area that's perfect for outdoor meals and lazing about. Inside the Lodge is a beautifully appointed kitchen where preparing meals is a joy, along with a tip-top shower room / WC.
Comfy seating, a log stove and a dining area complete this little oak house, so it's a good choice for autumn and spring breaks - in spring you're surrounded by fresh buds and blossoms, and in autumn by boughs of fruit. How about making a home-made apple pie for dessert?!
This glamping breaks is a great combination of childhood 'camping out' and a luxurious Lodge holiday - you get the best of both worlds! If you love trees you'll enjoy the old orchard, the specimen trees planted many years ago by Lou's Dad, and the mature, wild trees growing along the stream where secret picnic spots have been cleared. It would surely be churlish not to pack a basket with a chunk of proper Cheshire cheese (check out H.S. Bournes cheesemakers a few miles away), and a fresh baked loaf - and in autumn a few apples right off the nearby trees. All you then need is a drink, hmm - a flask of hot tea maybe, or some chilled local cider on a warm summer's day?
If you'd like to enjoy most of your home comforts during your glamping break along with a hint of gypsy adventure, this Cheshire Gypsy Wagon and Lodge certainly provide them.
