East Ashling is a small village just three miles west of Chichester on the West Sussex coast. Plush Camp sits in the abundant fields on the outskirts of this pretty village, just inside the South Downs National Park. Within walking distance from Plush Camp is Kingley Vale Nature Reserve, one of the largest remaining yew forests in England.
At just 2 hours outside of London, the coastal county town of Chichester is lined with sandy beaches, flanked by fishing villages and sits at the foot of the South Downs, meaning if you can tear yourself away from your hammock, there is plenty of exploring to be done in the lush countryside surrounding Plush Camp.
Plush Camp is made up of 6 beautiful, solid yurts and 5 bell tents of varying sizes.
Yurts: Each of these spacious yurts features a handmade oak double bed, with sumptuous bedding and blankets for a cosy night's sleep. Two floor beds are available for children up to 14 years of age, and travel cots are also provided upon request. Sheepskin rugs cover the natural coir floors, and an antique wood-burning stove warms each space beautifully. These yurts are quirky and colourful, from the rich-coloured ceiling drapes to the hand-painted table and chairs. The yurts are off-grid, but changeable LED lighting and a small stereo allow for a little ambience. All structures have outdoor seating and a gas barbecue for cooking.
Bell tents: these lovely canvas structures have a retro camping feel, equipped with a comfortable memory foam mattress for two, covered in luxurious linens and fleecy blankets. A coffee table houses a tea and coffee hamper, and natural coir flooring covers the ground. Torches are provided for when the sun goes to sleep, although we reckon you'll be too busy star gazing to need them.
Bathrooms: This cleverly laid out site has an allocated space for everything, including a wooden-clad bathroom block, housing 4 hot water, gas-powered showers in family-sized cubicles, and flushing toilets as well as composting loos.
Communal facilities: This site has been created to bring people together, as is seen by the 30ft Home Yurt, which has the capacity for 117 people standing, and up to 60 people seated on sofas and chairs in front of the large wood-burning stove and cinema projection screen.
The outdoor space provides a large communal bonfire space with benches, a bandstand, a hammock circle for chilling out, and picnic tables for shared al fresco dinners.
The mess tent kitchen has gas ovens, cooking accessories and solar-powered ice boxes, as well as sinks. Above all of the bin areas you will find nifty herb gardens, where you can pick some mint for your lamb burger…or your mojito!
The natural play area has an indoor cinema tent, a treehouse, a bean bag tipi, den building facilities and the capacity for much fun and laughter.
And for a little luxury, why not enjoy the 8-12 seater wood-fired hot tub - don't forget to bring your towel.
Please note: there are charge points for phones at reception, but the rest of the site is off-grid, meaning no digital distractions from meaningful moments.
