April Rise

If ever we saw blessing in the air, it's in this beautiful part of the Cotswolds, where handsome shepherds hut April Rise sits amidst the wildflowers in her own sepia meadow.  A romantic retreat for two, April Rise is named after the Cotswold's most famous son, Laurie Lee, and his famous poem of the same name.  We think that Lee would have enjoyed a stay in this cosy cabin, with its views of his beloved rolling fields, full of hares and butterflies, not far from his Gloucestershire home of Slad Valley.
April Rise may remind us of bucolic, hazy August days, but she's anything but traditional.  April Rise is a little larger than your average hut, allowing for lots of space in which to enjoy your stay in this area.  She even has an en-suite bathroom fit for royalty, which is handy due to her proximity to the royal houses of Gatcombe Park and Highgrove House.  April Rise offers an opportunity to experience Tetbury's traditional hotel room, with all the modern luxuries, and even a breakfast hamper to boot.  Why not bring your loved one on a romantic break to this famously idyllic county?

Interior & Facilities

April Rise is a spacious shepherd's hut containing a large pull out double bed, with coverings printed by talented textile designer and owner Liz.  All soft furnishings in the hut - including wash bag and pyjamas - were designed by Liz, creating a cheerful, comfortable interior, perfect for snuggling up with our loved one.  Unlike Laurie Lee's shepherd's huts of yore, April Rise has an electricity supply, water supply and gas boiler, meaning you can fill the electric kettle for your morning tea, and jump into a hot shower in the small en-suite bathroom, with corrugated shower cubicle and washbasin before you begin your day of adventures in the West Country.  At the end of a busy day, enjoy an al fresco dinner under the outdoor canopy, cooked o your own hob and barbecue, followed by a glass of something fizzy in front of the flames of the fire pit - fab!

Situation & Location

April Rise sits in her own flowery field, some 200 metres from her sister, Rosie Hut, who sits in a meadow beyond a large conifer hedge, meaning that both huts enjoy privacy and peace.  These beautiful huts are just over a mile away from Cherington, winner of several Best Kept Village awards, and 3 miles from Tetbury, with its lovely shops, tea rooms, and the fantastic Trouble House, a sixteenth century pub turned gastro haven.  And you can't miss the iconic 17th-century Market House, which sits majestically in the town centre square, as if it's on stilts.
