The Cotswolds have been the backdrop and inspiration to many literary greats, and here's another romantic scenario straight out of a novel - Rosie Hut sleeps two people in its own private wildflower meadow near Tetbury in Gloucestershire. Named after Laurie Lee's beguiling famed female character, Rosie Hut sits comfortably among Gloucestershire's tumbling fields and gently rolling grain farmlands, and this pretty little hut harks back to a time of haymaking and droving. In fact, this area of England is well known as a historically important wool trade centre.
Rosie is a truly traditional hut dating from the 1800's that has been shown a lot of love by owners John and Liz. Some of her timbers have been replaced, but that has not detracted from her ambience - this little lady has bags of character! It's so easy to imagine yourself as a land worker in Lee's celebrated novel as you wake in this cosy cabin, cook breakfast in your outdoor kitchen, and relax in warm nostalgia in this quintessentially quaint area of England.
Guests will also be treated to a complimentary breakfast hamper, which includes delicious croissants and fresh fruit plus good ol’ fashioned bacon and eggs.

Sitting between the beautiful idyllic village of Cherington and the 17th-century popular town of Tetbury, Rosie and her sister hut, April Rise, are surrounded by Gloucestershire's finest buildings. Woodchester Mansion is an unfinished Grade 1 listed Victorian Gothic masterpiece only 9 miles from Rosie, and is run and owned by the National Trust. Less than 3 miles away from the huts is Chavenage House, best known as "Trenwith" from popular series Poldark, and the 400-year-old house is open from 1st May until 31st September.
For a trip to visit Laurie Lee's hometown and resting place, travel 10 miles north to Slad - stop off on the way back for the best burger you'll ever eat at Jolly Nice, a gorgeous farm shop with yurt restaurant overlooking Aston Down Aerodrome.
Although the space is small, Rosie has an undeniably romantic feel about her - a large double bed sits in one end of the hut, its bedding designed and printed by Liz herself in her studio in Stroud. A small log burner sits in the corner of the hut, keeping the space cosy on clear, cool evening. A small amount of electricity supply allows for lamps and mood lighting, but we're sure you'll be drawn to the fire pit just outside the hut - a great excuse to snuggle up with your sweetheart by the flickering flames.
An outdoor canopy covers a delightful dining area, perfect for meals with a view. An outdoor kitchenette consists of a 2-ring gas hob, a kettle, a barbecue, and enough crockery, cutlery and cookware to rustle up some delicious Cotswolds cuisine. There's plenty of outdoor seating in Rosie's spacious environs to sit, read, take in the country air or even sneak in an afternoon nap. Not far from the hut is the small compostable toilet, in its own small wooden hut.
