Birch Safari

***Multi-night stay discounts available***

Safari Glamping in Devon with a slightly shabby chic twist! 'Birch' is one of two bespoke tents tucked away in a small wooded plot on a private equestrian centre. The Devonshire moors and Venn Ottery Reserve are right over the hedge with over 40 species of birds and Moorland horses, which can sometimes be seen mooching around the neighbouring fields.

Interior

The tent is open plan with a dining space for leisurely meals, a kitchenette with cool-box and utensils. There is a single day bed, with another single pull-out bed underneath (N.B. pull-out bed suitable for children only). All bedding is included.

Bathroom

Under the canvas roof, two separate huts at the back of the main accommodation have a hot shower in one, and camping loo / Victorian style washstand in the other. Towels are provided.

Outside

To the front of the safari tent is a decked veranda with seating looking through trees towards the equestrian menage - a lovely spot for a 'sundowner' or breakfast on sunny mornings. A designated fire-pit is nearby for night time campfire chats.

The Site

Is a privately owned Equestrian Center which includes stabling and the owners' house. The first owner who commissioned the build had spent some years abroad which probably influenced its Colonial style. The safari tents, therefore, make a rather fitting contemporary tribute.

Children are welcome - they love playing around the tents and exploring the surrounding natural area. There are however two small streams (one runs behind the tents) and a pond nearby and supervisions around these are recommended for smaller children.

This is one of only two quality safari tents at this site the other, 'Willow' is about 5 meters away. They can be booked together for a larger group. Also available is Bramble Shepherd's Hut on the site, with private facilities.

Local Area

Devon has many interesting attractions and natural sites. The coast is 20 minutes away with Jurassic geology. Check out independent eateries such as the 'The Pea Green Boat cafe' on the Sidmouth waterfront serving good quality food and wines. Overall this is a great spot to go glamping in Devon!
