A stylish glamping safari holiday bordering the Devon moors tucked away in the trees on an equestrian site. One of two such tents sharing this sheltered spot which is ideal for a romantic break or family holiday.
The safari has an open plan interior with kitchenette, dining area and a sectioned off double bedroom. The log-burner keeps chills away and creates a lovely warm atmosphere. The single day bed has a pull-out single bed underneath (N.B. pull-out only suitable for children). All bedding is included. Scatter cushions, throws and board games add a homely touch without cluttering up your space.
Bathroom: the main Safari canvas roof, two separate huts at the back of the main accommodation have a hot shower in one, and camping loo / Victorian style washstand in the other. Towels are provided.
To the front of the safari tent is a decked veranda with seating looking through trees towards the equestrian menage - a lovely spot for an evening 'sun-downer' or breakfast on sunny mornings. A designated fire-pit is nearby for night time campfire chats.
Is a privately owned Equestrian Center which includes stabling and the owners' house. The first owner who commissioned the build had spent some years abroad which probably influenced its Colonial style. The safari tents, therefore, make a rather fitting contemporary tribute.
Children are welcome - they love playing around the tents and exploring the surrounding natural area. There are however two small streams (one runs behind the tents) and a pond nearby so supervision around these is recommended for smaller children.
This is one of only two quality glamping safari tents at this site, 'Birch' Safari Tent is about 5 meters away from this one sectioned off with a screen, they can be booked together (along with 'Bramble' Shepherd's Hut) for a larger group.
The safari tents back onto the Venn Ottery reserve with over 40 species of birds, and the Devon moorland horses which can sometimes be seen poking their heads over the fence!
Devon has many interesting attractions and natural sites. The coast is 20 minutes away with Jurassic geology. Check out independent eateries such as the 'The Pea Green Boat cafe' on the Sidmouth waterfront serving good quality food and wines.
