Tey Brook Orchard is a beautiful and private group accommodation burrowed between the apple trees in the rural Colchester borough of Essex, capable of accommodating large groups of up to 40 people. Less than an hour from London, this bucolic location is not only a pastoral paradise, but sits on the site of a Bronze Age burial site, whilst the time-worn Roman River converges with Tey Brook mere meters from the plot.
Get back to basics on this off-grid group holiday, allowing you and your loved ones to indulge in some communal cooking, team activities, bonding evenings and days filled with fun and camaraderie. The flatlands of Essex provide the perfect terrain for cyclists, and nearby Gosfield lake offers fishing, water skiing and even banana boats! Immerse yourselves in collective appreciation of the natural surroundings of this charming English countryside location with a stay at Tey Brook Orchard.
This rustic retreat is made up of a melange of magical glamping structures, ranging from making it a spot that appeals and excites every type of holiday-goer. Relax in the chill-out tipi, or roast marshmallows over the campfire. Play hide and seek with the kids in the 20 acres of woodland, or take a break from encampment cuisine altogether with a visit to the nearby family restaurant.
This site, nestled into its own woodland of silvery birch trees and native flora, really does cater for grandma and toddler in its 10 group structures, making it a fantastic spot for large groups to spend a few days away together.
Arrive on site, and take the small, flower-canopied wooden bridge from the large, tree-sheltered parking area into an unfolding green meadow containing comfortable stay spots. Tucked away behind the acorn tree you'll find the Shepherd's Hut, a cosy, 100-year-old wagon that is made up to fit a couple comfortably, with privacy provided under the mature branches.
You'll find three of six cosy bell tents standing tall amidst the daisy-filled field, leading to a large, fully equipped communal kitchen area. A beautiful chill-out tipi beckons, its triangular frame reflected in the pond beyond the field.
Through a small copse, passing the wooden hot shower blocks, you'll discover three more bell tents hidden amongst the apple trees, and, between cherry blossoms and birch barks, Mongolian yurts appear, ready to house excited children and adults alike.
Pick your way to the back of this grove, watching for rabbits and the murmur of sparrow hawks, and you'll find a hidden treasure - the beautifully converted Grain Silo, a private and romantic shelter for two with a skylight ceiling so that you can fall asleep under the stars.
