Perched on the side of the Brecon Beacons are the four beautiful shepherds huts that makeup Offa's Stream. Nestled in the woodland clearing at the lower end of a spectacular dwelling next to a babbling brook, these huts offer the peace, seclusion and a soak in a hot tub that walkers and hikers long for after a day spent trekking the famous Offa's Dyke.
With Hay Bluff rising impressively on one side, and flanked by the Twmpa on the other, waking up in these spacious shepherds huts allows you to really appreciate the vastness of the Brecon Beacons.
Also available for 6 persons - Offa's Brook
Check-in - 3pm / Check -out - 10am
Whilst there's no age restriction for children, it's always advised that you supervise your tiny tots when they play around the brook. Otherwise, why not play on the rope swing in the woodland, or go on a hilly expedition to spot brown hares? Or how about cycling the many routes popular with road and off-road bikers? Or you could pop up the road to the historic town of Hay on Wye to meander around the bookstores or attend the Hay Festival. Or just let the kids lie in the grass with a film on the iPad (charge points in each hut).
Offa's Stream is the perfect place for adults and children to bask in the fresh mountain air…with a comfortable bed, warm Welsh blankets and Egyptian cotton bed linen to fall into at the end of an adventurous day.
No Wi-Fi? No worries - these eco-friendly, off-grid structures allow for a complete break from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The signal is poor in the area, but we're sure you'll be far too busy to be surfing the net when the Black Mountains beckon. So why not turn your mobile off for a digital detox? From the second you arrive at Offa's Stream, winding up the Brecon Beacons to the backdrop of miles of Herefordshire hills, then back down into the beguiling Wye valley, you'll be fully immersed in the natural wonders of this ancient glacial ridge.
These huts are handmade by the owners, using modern-day construction techniques whilst maintaining a traditional look, even down to the dark green Farrow and Ball paint used for all four glamping huts.
These huts are specifically tailored for group bookings - three double sleeping huts are arranged in a semi-circle on the site, with a fourth hut providing high-quality cooking facilities at one end, and a beautiful, eco-friendly bathroom at the other end. A fourth double sleeping hut, powered by a windmill situated on another part of the site, stands on its own across the field, allowing a little privacy for a couple, or to put the kids to bed whilst the adults relax and enjoy the evening.
There's a large fire pit with barbeque facilities for some Welsh lamb steaks for dinner, eaten at the large, family sized, handmade outdoor dinner table, with a canopy to keep the weather at bay during your stay. And if this wasn't enough, you could luxuriate with a glass of wine in the wood-fired hot tub. Listen to the bubbling Digedi brook as it winds its way around the hot tub and along the side of the huts while looking up at red kites during the day, and the starscape at night -bliss!
