The huts are handmade by the owner and the results are modern, traditionally constructed, well designed and spaciously comfortable glamping huts.
Three double sleeping huts are joined by a fourth hut that serves as a kitchen area, complete with a wood-fired oven and various cooking and eating equipment. A clean, modern bathroom is to the rear of the fourth hut; the wood-fired oven also heats the hot water for your shower off-grid and is heated before you arrive.
These dark green painted huts, which blend effortlessly into their wooded surroundings, are arranged in a semi-circle around the family-friendly amenities. A communal, covered, the wooden eating area sits beside the large fire pit where you can cook food together and, as the night draws in, you can huddle cosily together to watch the stars. Or watch the cool mountain water of Digedi brook meander around you as you sit in a warm, bubbling hot tub, sipping a glass of your favourite tipple.
While we encourage families to come and stay at The Huts In The Hills, we do like to make parents aware that toddlers would need supervision around the water's edge. Under the watchful eye of Mum and Dad, kids can build dams and make leaf boats and race them down the pebbled stream.
The great mountains of Hay Bluff and Twmpa engulfing the valley provide the entertainment, whether you cycle the popular off-road bike routes, climb to the summit of the numerous peak of the Brecon Beacons, or hike along the infamous Offa's Dyke. Only five miles from historic Hay on Wye with its charming cafes and celebrated bookshops, and right on the Gospel Pass, of the famed literary book "On The Black Hill" by Bruce Chatwin, Offa's Brook has something appealing for most.
Our off-grid, eco-friendly shepherds huts offer you the opportunity for a well-deserved digital detox. Although every hut comes with charging points, mobile signal is poor and Wi-Fi is non-existent, meaning you have the chance to experience the fresh mountain air without the distractions of electronics and the hustle and bustle of modern life. And, from our experience of the beautiful hills you wind down to get to the property, with views of Herefordshire stretching for miles beyond the Black Mountains, before the Wye valley raises up to greet you, we're fairly sure you'll never want to leave.
