Enjoy intrigue, witchcraft and centuries of fascinating history throughout the archive rooms. Have a coffee, a freshly baked scone or a delicious lunch in the award winning restaurant. Don't forget to treat yourself to freshly cooked waffles in Dottie's and a milkshake at the end of the day!

From the Victorian kitchen, schoolroom & the 1950s bedroom, there is plenty to see, along with changing exhibitions in the Long Gallery.

Find a hidden gem in the delightful gift shop, from a Samlesbury memento, to a home-produced jar of honey. Tour the grounds, feed the rescue hens, throw a penny into the fountain and make a wish, or simply while away a sunny afternoon in the magnificent grounds.

Samlesbury Hall is home to a busy events and functions programme, where you can tour the Hall with an experienced guide, enjoy a theatre production or murder mystery or experience an evening ghost hunt. Samlesbury Hall is open to visitors all year round, Sunday - Friday, 10am - 4pm (Please check opening times before traveling as the venue is occasionally closed on Fridays for wedding events.)

The Building
A fabulous half-timbered black and white medieval house built in 1325 as a family home, the Hall is beautifully maintained for the enjoyment of today's visitor.

The current building and grounds are administered by a registered charity known as the Samlesbury Hall Trust (Charity number 526052), whose aim is to preserve the Hall for the people of the area and visitors to Lancashire.

The Trust was founded in the 1920s when the Hall was about to be demolished. Since then the Hall has been a museum and Gallery, and host to many grand functions.

The Hall is open to the public every day, except Saturdays and occasional Fridays, when it is closed for weddings. On this site today, you will discover an ancient, magnificently preserved manor house and gardens, with a colourful history and a wide-ranging programme of year-round events and activities.

Very little of what was around the Hall when it was first built in 1325 remains, if anything at all, but within the lovely woodland surrounds, you will see evidence of the the ancient Hall in its original light.

The drive used to be cobbled 'sets' and they are buried underneath the tarmac in in order to facilitate today's traffic (cars and Ladies' heels).

You will today see much more structured grounds, with beautifully manicured lawns, pretty borders and box and beech on guard! In recent years working animals have been introduced, which are a delight for the children. Don't just visit the buildings, see the grounds, they can be quite magical!

Using only the finest local ingredients, from their own gardens as well as neighbouring producers in Lancashire, Samlesbury Hall restaurant is an award-winning destination for gastronomical delicacies.

Dishes are seasoned with fresh herbs from the Halls own Courtyard including chives, mint, parsley, thyme, rosemary and bay leaves. The Chef selects quality meat daily from butchers in Leyland and Longridge bringing Forest of Bowland lamb, beef, pork, poultry and sausages a mere hop, skip and a jump from production to plate.

In addition, the seafood takes a similarly short journey from the Lancashire fishing town of Fleetwood.

Enjoy a variety of sumptuous dishes from filling soup prepared daily in the kitchen, to a delicious lunch rounded off with a mouthwatering homemade pudding!

The Restaurant boasts a comprehensively stocked Bar serving everything from its very own Samlesbury Merlot to a pint of Guinness. The choice is extensive - just ask for your favourite!

Please note that the restaurant is closed on Saturdays and on the occasional Friday, so it is advised to call on 01254 812010 to inquire or book a table. The restaurant serves lunches between 12noon - 3pm, but can cater large parties in the evening if required - please contact [email protected] for more details.
