Although this geometric structure is not indigenous to its surroundings, Elderflower Dome sits peacefully amidst a site of colourful yurts in the idyllic Somerset countryside.  This unique canvas covered geodesic dome is spacious at 6.5 metres in diameter, allowing for plenty of personal space for your family holiday.

Elderflower Dome accommodates up to 4 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children under its triangular jigsaw covering.  The continuously curved walls house everything you need for a comfortable stay - beds, seating and bean bags encompass the wood-burning stove, which emanates heat from the nucleus of this mesmerising structure.  A large triangular trio of windows allows for star-gazing from this space age structure.
A pleasing mixture of pioneering and pragmatic, this structure, first created by R Buckminster Fuller in the 1950's, has been lovingly adapted to become your home for your self-catering Somerset stay.

Explore this historic county, once the scene of epic battles between the Anglo-Saxons and the Danes, now home to red deer, wild ponies, peregrine falcons and large populations of rare butterflies along its heather- covered hills and uncultivated moors.
Elderflower Dome offers so much more than a yurt holiday - this is your dome away from home.

Elderflower Dome's sizeable space easily accommodates a double bed and a double futon sofa bed, sleeping up to 4 people.  There's a dining table and chairs in front of the large window for dinner with a view, or move to the outside picnic table for al fresco dining.  The wood-burning stove not only provides heat when the sun goes down, but it also boils the kettle for a cuppa to kick start your day of adventures.  There's a barbecue out front for traditional outdoor grub, but if you'd like to whip up a feast with more finesse, then take advantage of the fantastic facilities a mere 100 metres away.  The nearby Dutch barn buildings have been transformed into a large kitchen and dining area, complete with an electric oven with hob, a microwave, a fridge-freezer, toaster and kettle, as well as full cooking utensils and appliances.  This space also contains an adjoining bathroom with 4 hot water shower cubicles, 4 flushing toilets and multiple wash basins, as well as baby changing facilities.

Just outside the Dutch barn you'll find a chill out area with tables for al fresco dining, and a large fire pit.
Please note that there are 5 yurts on this site which also share these facilities - please see our listing for Cherrygrove (7096) for group bookings.

Settled into Taunton Vale, in the shadow of the Blackdown Hills, Elderflower Dome is only 5 miles north of the county town of Taunton.  The Museum of Somerset and the Somerset Military Museum is housed in the reconstructed Norman castle at Taunton.  Exmoor National Park is less than a 30-minute drive from Hazel Dome - why not take the kids to meet the Beast of Exmoor, Fhu the puma?  Alternatively, take a pony trek across the nearby Quantock Hills for a unique view of the undulating countryside…without the leg work!
