What's more, the famous Anglo-Saxon village in West Stow is also fittingly just a short walk away, while personalised tours from The Hidden Hollow can also be arranged on request.
The structure is beautifully moulded into its woodland setting, with giant tangled roots arching from the ground and soaring pine trees protruding either side. The interior is filled with classic hobbit features from its curved beams and circular doors, to the quaint stain glass windows; the whole house creates a sense of intrigue and imagination. The property also comes equipped with a superfluity of lights, ample plug sockets, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Outside the property benefits from its own picket fence creating a private garden space within the grand woodland estate. Also find a bench, table and chairs, and a barbecue for cooking a delicious smoky feast. The forested grounds provide a magnificent backdrop and embody the mystical feel of the property.
The surrounding area is filled with a variety of natural beauty spots to explore and discover, including a variety of popular walking and cycling routes. The King's Forest, Lackford Lakes, West Stow County Park, The River Lark, and Cavenham Heath National Nature Reserve are all easily accessible from the site.
The grand West Stow Stud Horse is adjacent to the site and is popular with horse riders from all over Europe.
The famous Anglo-Saxon village in West Stow is located close by and shares a special relationship with the property. A visit to this historical site is a real treat for history enthusiasts. There is also a fantastic play area for little Hobbits!
The property is also a short drive from Bury St. Edmunds which offers a lovely selection of gastronomical delights, and quaint shops for you to explore. Bury St Edmunds is only 35 mins from Cambridge and just under an hour from the fantastic Suffolk coast. Bury St Edmunds has an amazing history, including one of the most important medieval monasteries in Europe and some of our most important events and people in history: Saint Edmund, the Magna Carta, Henry VI, Mary Tudor Queen of France, William Shakespeare and Charles Dickens. A must for any history lovers!
Visit The Abbey Gardens near Bury St Edmunds, which is a firm favourite with locals and visitors, and expect to see up to 20,000 flowers in full bloom during spring and summer.
The wildflower meadows of Nowton Park together with its woodland and hornbeam maze is also a lovely outing, along with the wildlife-filled Lackford Lakes, and the woods of West Stow Country Park, plus the beautiful neoclassical gardens of Ickworth House, Park, and Gardens.
Stunning in all seasons but particularly in spring, Fullers Mill is an enchanting waterside and woodland garden on the bank of the River Lark and only 5 minutes' walk from Shire Hollow. The garden boasts an unusual collection of shrubs, perennials, and lilies. After a relaxing stroll stop by The Bothy for a cup of tea and a slice of home-made cake.
Bury St Edmunds is a great family destination. Large well-equipped play areas at the Abbey Gardens, Nowton Park, West Stow Country Park, and Ickworth House and Gardens all offer a place to run around. While, entertainment is also available at the Abbeygate Cinema, Cineworld, the Theatre Royal, and The Apex, while kids can let off some steam at CurveMotion and Planet Laser. Melford Hall, High Lodge in Thetford Forest and Family Fun Days at Newmarket Racecourse offer further opportunities for kids days out.
