Nestled on the edge of the tranquil, sweeping hills of the North Wessex Downs, Daphnis & Chloe is one of three bespoke huts offering the chance to experience life in the gloriously wild English countryside without sacrificing your usual luxuries and essentials. The shepherd's huts have been specially designed with comfort in mind, offering a space to relax and unwind in gorgeous natural surroundings.
Each hut contains a well-equipped kitchen area, with cooking facilities and a fridge, while the Egyptian Cotton Sheets and warming ambience of the wood burner creates a cosy glamping hideaway for restful nights beneath the stars. There are electrical sockets for charging phones and essentials, while fresh towels are provided for the luxury shower block, located less than a minutes' walk from the huts.
Together with a fantastic communal space - Haigha’s Form is a 5×9 metre safari-style tent that provides an extra spacious but cosy space for our visitors to relax in and engage in more sheltered activities. Haigha’s Form contains a small but well-equipped kitchen area, dining tables, a hangout zone with three comfy sofas, and a woodburning stove to keep you warm on chilly nights. There is also a covered deck for guests to enjoy when they would still like to be outside but sheltered from more dubious weather or the heat of the sun. Access to Haigha’s Form is included in all shepherds hut and bell tent bookings and is a perfect space for groups who book more than one accommodation unit to have an indoor space for hanging out and making food together. This space is also useful for guests staying in bell tents, as these do not have their own cooking facilities.
The calming countryside location creates the perfect setting for barbecues and meals outside, while the surrounding hills light up in a shimmering glow as the sun slips towards the horizon. Listen to a variety of woodland birds singing in the trees and small mammals rustling in the undergrowth or meet the variety of farm animals on-site from enigmatic alpacas to cuddly little lambs.
Located on the borders of Wiltshire and Somerset, the area has a fascinating history, with the world-famous Stonehenge, as well as Wilshire's White Horses all located here. With over half the county A Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty you're spoilt for choice with walks and trails to discover, with North Wessex Downs to the East, Cranborne Chase to the South and The Cotswolds to the North/West.

Take a look at the 3 Shepherd Huts on site! -
Gabriel Oak has a practical and dependable feel to it, just like the shepherds from Thomas Hardy's Far From the Madding Crowd who inspired the name. Featuring its own toilet and outdoor cooking area, and decked out in warm reds and burgundies inside, Gabriel Oak is perfect for cosy, down-to-earth nights in
Daphnis & Chloe
Daphnis & Chloe honours its namesake, the pastoral romance written by ancient Greek novelist Longus, and is perfect as a couple's getaway. Featuring windows on three sides to bring in light, nature continues through into the hut with lush greenery trailing from shelves and vibrant blue decorations that match our wide-open skies.
Perdita is our queen of the shepherdesses; named after Shakespeare's royal heroine from The Winter's Tale who was raised by humble shepherds, she has an understated elegance inside. The mushroom motif recalls the woodland nearby and the soft yellows and greens of the display pieces soothe and delight the senses.
About the site - A note from the owners
The family-run business is aimed at people who love the outdoors. We're located within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a stunning landscape of ancient woods, gently meandering chalk springs, and rolling downland, offering peace, quiet and relaxation.
Staying in one of our shepherd's huts or bell tents is a very special experience. You can choose a traditionally-built shepherd's hut or spend a night under canvas in one of our very spacious bell tents; our Hayloft is perfect for classes, special occasions, meetings, and group events.
All our accommodation is finished to an extremely high standard. Wood burning stoves offer warm, cosy nights in, whilst our futons and soft and cosy bedding make for a good night's sleep. In the summer, you can barbecue just how you like it. Even our fire-pits add to the atmosphere. As night falls, toasting marshmallows, telling ghost stories or whiling away the evening hours as you watch pictures in the embers will prepare you for a restful night's sleep. Switch off from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and switch on your senses! Soak up the atmosphere and tune into nature.
The location means you're never far away from nature, with birdlife, flora, and fauna in abundance. In addition, there are our own friendly farm animals, everything from goats, sheep, and a pig, to donkeys and alpacas: they'll all be pleased to meet you!
Although you'll be happy just exploring the site, you're also not far away from some of Wiltshire's top attractions. Among the best are the World Heritage Sites of Avebury and Stonehenge; Bowood House, with its gardens and much-loved adventure playground (complete with a pirate ship); and the Georgian city of Bath with its spa and grand architecture - all an easy drive away. Closer to home, our nearby network of footpaths and bridleways gets you out into our own beautiful local landscape, leading to magical places such as our local White Horse, one of eight still visible in Wiltshire.
Whether it's a holiday, a weekend break or a romantic escape from the city, this is the perfect spot - offering a truly relaxing, restful experience we think you'll treasure forever.
Avebury Stone Circles
Avebury henge and stone circles are one of the greatest marvels of prehistoric Britain. Built and much altered during the Neolithic period, roughly between 2850 BC and 2200 BC, the henge survives as a huge circular bank and ditch, encircling an area that includes part of Avebury village.
Preserved by the National Trust this exceptional building has been renovated and redecorated in five distinct styles including Tudor, Queen Anne, Georgian, Victorian and 20th century. This imaginative process drew on the team's expertise, historical research and inventories from other houses of the selected periods to help recreate inspirational interiors for the rooms.
The largest artificial mound in Europe, mysterious Silbury Hill compares in height and volume to the roughly contemporary Egyptian pyramids. Probably completed in around 2400 BC, it apparently contains no burial. Though clearly important in itself, its purpose and significance remain unknown.
