Rowan Yurt offers a romantic break in a rural location high on a hilltop on the Ceredigion coast. With breath-taking views of the green patchworked landscape as far as the eye can see, stretching across to the Irish sea, Rowan Yurt is the perfect location to take in fresh sea air whilst being surrounded by an alpine ambience. From the comfort of the surrounding ancient woodlands, you can view fertile farmlands as far as Cardigan Bay, occasionally sneaking a peak of North Wales on a very clear day.
The smallholding where owners Charlotte and Roy live provides some human impact on an otherwise wild western setting - this is the ultimate escape to the country location. Red squirrels scurry around the bows beside you, while kites and buzzards swoop overhead and down the sprawling valley ahead. Hares pop up beside the lambs, and birds pluck the berries from the tree that gives this cosy yurt its name: The Rowan tree. Watch the stars through the treetops, snuggle up with your loved one in your canvas dwelling, and wake up refreshed in the morning to beautiful birdsong and the perfume of gorse nearby.
For a family or group, Rowan can also be rented with Gorse Yurt located 100m downstream, sleeping 2 adults and a child.

This private 5-metre yurt was handcrafted by one of Charlotte's sons using locally sourced Welsh wood. The trees are felled thoughtfully, with the immediate ecosystem being preserved and maintained. Rowan Yurt's comfortable interior consists of a sumptuous double bed, handmade from local oak, and a dining table and chairs for romantic meals for two. The beautifully crafted wooden furniture in this yurt sits under the steam-bent natural frame, making it feel as though you never left the outdoor canopy at all. A lovely wood-burning stove keeps you cosy under canvas.
The facilities on site include a converted barn which is 50 metres from the yurt, which has kitchen and dining facilities such as ovens, hot and cold sinks, and a fridge-freezer, as well as the double gas hob and pans and utensils available in the yurt. Beside the barn is a bespoke shepherds hut which has been built to house the superb wash facilities for Rowan Yurt and its sister, Gorse Yurt, which sits 100 metres away in its own hazel copse. The bathroom hut consists of a copper drencher hot shower and washbasin per yurt, completed to a high standard.
The evocative smell of childhood camping trips emanates from the fresh canvas, making this the perfect natural love bubble for a couple's country retreat.
This area of Mid Wales is known for small seaside towns and coastal walks along the beautiful Cardigan Bay. From Rowan Yurt, you can see across 10 miles of pastoral beauty towards the distant fishing hamlets of Llangrannog, New Quay and Aberaeron, with its colourful Regency-style houses grouped around the pretty harbour.
A few miles away is Llanerchaeron, a large Georgian villa designed by John Nash and run by the National Trust, nestled into the woods in the Aeron valley.
The nearest town to Rowan Yurt and Gorse Yurt is historic Lampeter, which is officially classed as the smallest university town in the UK. On route to the Cambrian mountains, Lampeter is well-known for its abundance of independent shops and the Lampeter Food Festival.
