This lesser known section of Wales is one of the few remaining natural gems yet to be fully diluted by mainstream tourism. Unlike many of the UK’s other favourite holiday destinations, this quiet section of land in the Cothi Valley, Carmarthenshire still quietly shines in all its natural splendour.

Nestled on the banks of the River Pib this specially designed glamping site is ideal for families, walkers, cyclists or just those simply looking to take a break away from a busy world. With wellbeing at its heart - from calming alpacas to Pilates experience weekends, the aim is to create a holistic holiday experience, winding down with nature, and inspiring inner peace and relaxation.

Four bespoke Mongolian Yurts form the centrepiece - these locally crafted structures incorporate traditional geometric design, which embodies cosiness and inspires contemplation. The interiors are luxuriously furnished with cooking facilities, comfy beds, plus cushions and blankets made from the farm’s own alpaca fleece, while the wood burners and stargazing skylights combine to create a glorious guest experience.

This purpose-built retreat forms part of a small 22-acre farm with rare breed Brecon Buff Geese, Cream Legbar, Light Sussex Chickens, plus the jewel in the crown - the Alpacas. These extremely friendly animals are known for their calming and therapeutic effects, while guests are free to meet the herd and help with their feeding.

Outside there are picnic tables and fire-pits for nights under the stars, while the soft murmur of the River Pib provides a soothing backdrop. Listen to the plethora of woodland birds during the morning chorus or watch out for the foxes, badgers or hedgehogs rustling through the undergrowth. Here is a place where the boundaries between nature and civilization harmoniously entwine.

However, only a short jaunt through the meadows takes you to the lovely village of Brechfa, with a country pub, community shop and a play park. What’s more, the huge variety of paths and trails in the area are perfect for exploring the uninterrupted expanse of magnificent countryside. Whether you’re looking for an activity-based getaway or simply a relaxing break in nature this luxury glamping retreat is a wonderful choice.
