Hengoed is one of six treehouses available to our guests on this site.  Please be aware that pressing "Book" reserves one of these six properties, and means that you will be allocated one of these equally beautiful treehouses based on availability and suitability.  This is so that we can make sure that your family has a stay that's out of this world!

If you go down to the woods today in Mid Wales, you're sure of a beautiful surprise - over a little wooden bridge, appearing through a clearing in the trees is Hengoed, a traditional treehouse trailing in the treetops.  Comfortably sleeping two, with additional bunks to extend your party size to a family of four, this secluded treehouse sits in an ancient, undisturbed wooded valley.  It is one of six treehouses on this beautiful, mountainous site near Machynlleth, with views towards Cader Idris and the undulating hills of Powys.  Ynys Las beach is less than 20 miles away - the smell of the sea mingles with the aroma of the earthy woodland.
These treehouses are the best of glamping structures.  The spiral staircases splay out like leaves, guiding you skyward through the branches to the low-impact, off grid, floating futuristic abodes, designed by owner Mark to have as little disturbance on, and allow as much enjoyment of the stunning natural surroundings.  With walks aplenty around the magnificent countryside, including a short trek to your leafy nest, these treehouses are the perfect place to pause, breathe and immerse yourself fully in the sensory experience offered in this tranquil place.

Interior & Facilities

Each one of these chic tree shelters sleep four - two adults on a hand built wooden double bed, and two children in built in bunk beds.  There is an optional day bed for a third child available.  All beds have views over the woodland from large windows, allowing for star gazing and bird spotting well into the night.  The living space is big enough for a family stay, and cozy enough for a couple, with cooking and washing up facilities, comfortable seating and dining areas, and a central wood-burning stove providing a sepia glow over this simple existence.  The shower can be found under the structure, and the compost toilet is on its own platform nearby.  Rope bridges, spiral staircases, tree hammocks and streams also add to the experience, allowing the kids and the big kids an amazing, serene experience between the branches.
