Please note    All guests at Norwegian Wood are provided with charcoal, logs and firelighters for the hot tub, wood burner, barbeque and fire pit - so there are no extra costs. 

Sophisticated Off-Grid Luxury Breaks in an exclusive luxury geodesic dome. Kick-off your shoes and unwind at this couples-only, pet-free low carbon off-grid dome with PV and Wind turbine power. Home produced electricity supplies dimmable lights and a spare socket for guests iPads and phone charging.

Solid wood floor, huge log burning stove, bespoke furnishings and that view from the giant picture window! Set amid a secluded cluster of young fragrant conifers on a picturesque hillside in Mid Wales near the Elan Valley. Savour the earthy liberation of the outdoors, start the day in the outdoor, steaming hot shower with nature all around and the sounds of birds chirping! 

Immerse yourself in the peace and quiet that the Redwood Retreat offers but guests are also free to use the 'chillout' dome across the field and is shared with  Hafod-at-redwood-retreat. Here you will find a fire pit with grill bars and skillet so you can indulge in an outdoor cook fest. Some logs are provided as is a gas ring and kettle for the tea drinkers!

One mile from Rhayader town centre with a choice of pubs, cafe's supermarkets and shops. A special treat is to have a Red Kite hovering just a few feet above your head. Expect to see Nuthatches, Woodpeckers, Blue and Great Tits, Robins and Redstarts, Goldfinches and Thrushes to name a few.  Every year families of Swallows and House Martins seek housing around Andy & Katherine's house nearby. Occasionally a fox can be seen as it sneaks across the landscape.  A Hare is a frequent guest in the paddocks below the dome too. At dusk, bats can appear as they seek a snack on insects. 

Guests will receive free membership to the Greener Camping Club via the owners when booking this structure. Benefits include access to some of the best campsites in Wales and England. (Probably the lowest environmental impact holidays in the UK) Facilities powered by renewable energy, zero waste initiatives, they strive for 100% recycling where local authorities support. Membership also includes participation in the Club's Trees for Life scheme, whereby a tree is planted for every Member.   • Public Transport

    Bus stop in Rhayader and train station in Llandrindod Wells.

The spacious dome is over 6m diameter with a panoramic picture window set to catch the evening sunset.  The roof has a large skylight so you can view the night sky whilst lying in the large luxury king-size double bed. Snuggle up in the evening on the sofa by the wood-burning stove.

Cooking facilities are in the open-plan kitchenette with sink, hot and cold water,  4 burner gas cooker, oven, grill, fridge, ample cooking utensils and cooking equipment. Complimentary tea, ground coffee, milk, sugar, homemade welsh cakes,  salt & pepper, washing up liquid, slippers and towels are provided for your warm welcome. 

*As a little extra, treat yourself to a delicious breakfast hamper, including local produce. Please contact the owner before arrival to order.*

Heating is supplied by the Woodburning stove.  Starter basket of logs provided, additional logs can be purchased onsite. 

Bathroom just a few steps away with a lovely hot walk-in shower, washbasin and modern flushing toilet, solar-heated towel rail. Good quality soft towels and bathrobes are provided as well as a hairdryer. For those who savour the earthy liberation of the outdoors start the day in the outdoor steaming hot shower with nature all around and the sounds of birds chirping! 

Outside deck provides plenty of room for relaxation with deckchairs, bistro table and chairs and charcoal BBQ. Grounds with conifers and feature willow arch.

Private Parking: The dome is approached by a path accessed through the small gateway off the car park.

There is a good mobile signal here but check with your provider. WiFi is also available in the dome.

The dome is equipped with all the relevant safety equipment including Carbon Monoxide Detector, Fire Extinguisher, First aid kit, Smoke Detector.

Also on the grounds: Across the field is another smaller (garden) dome which is a chill-out zone for all guests to enjoy. In the garden dome is some bamboo seating, a table and a single gas burner and kettle. And just outside is a large fire pit with rustic bench seating and fire logs supplied.

This area is recently planted with rhododendron and other shrubs as well as annual bedding plants and herbs. Just sit here quietly and wait for the fauna to come to visit you. Or get active and toast your marshmallows and do some grilling on the steelers wheel fire pit.

The Cambrian Mountains of Wales offer some amazing landscapes and glamping possibilities. These properties have made the most of the incredible wilderness that surrounds them, a wilderness just waiting to be discovered by you. Enjoy nature and trails and after sunset watch the sky fill with five thousand stars and more, as you relax under world-class dark skies.

Rhayader town centre (1 mile) with local stores, supermarket, chemist, antiques and craft shops. Bike hire can be arranged in the town. For an exhausting week visit in mid-July and catch the 8 days of carnival and see what happens when the locals let their hair down.

Lost Arc cafe is recommended or Evans Plaice, for top-quality fish and chips! There is also an excellent Indian restaurant, various takeaways and pubs serving food and real ales.

The Elan Valley, which is just a mile or so from Redwood Retreat is an International Dark Sky Park. Come and discover the Dark Skies of the Cambrian Mountains. 

The Elan Valley Estate achieved Dark Sky status in 2015 and despite being privately owned, the park is still publicly accessible to allow visitors to take advantage of the Dark Sky status
