The Cambrian Mountains of Wales offer some amazing landscapes and glamping possibilities. These properties have made the most of the incredible wilderness that surrounds them, a wilderness just waiting to be discovered by you. Enjoy nature and trails and after sunset watch the sky fill up with five thousand stars and more, as you relax under world-class dark skies.

The Red Kite Estate is deliberately as off-the-beaten-track and off-the-grid as possible so no wifi, no TV. Your companions will be roving sheep, chomping squirrels and of course the wheeling red kites that gives this lonesome wooded valley between two wind-blasted hilltops its name.

Whoever you come here with, choose someone you like spending time with, as apart from them, you are here to hang out with nature, no one else. You will be offered plenty of ways in which to do it…Set on a vast, eighty-acre conservation private estate in mid-Wales, the gleaming Conker is an off-grid, state-of-the-art glamping pod that's been expertly engineered for comfort, and was featured on George Clarke's 'Amazing Spaces' and This Morning's 'Staycation Showdown' - and emerged the winner.

The drive up sets the tone aptly, a narrow lane winds up the valley, and two miles of roughish track with few passing places, two gates to open and an eventual ascent by foot to make you marvel. You'll pass the Red Kit Barn which is located below the Conker but completely private.

It would be a pity to need to descend down into civilisation, but if needs be, the little village of Newbridge-on-Wye is a 15 minute drive away, here there is a shop, pub Sandwell stocked post office to buy essential supplies should you run out!

Once you're done, perhaps while away a lazy afternoon sipping drinks in the seclusion of Conker land.

Don't miss
If you are staying more than a few days and need a change of scenery - immerse yourselves in the magic world of the Thomas Shop in Penybont! I won't spoil the surprise, just go. Check website for opening times and be sure to try out some of the homemade cakes and savouries as well as superb coffee, indoors or on the banks of the river.

Walking
The walking possibilities are as open-ended as the moors are extensive: once you've discovered the pathways, drovers roads and National Trust land on your doorstep, you've had a good intro as to what's on offer.

Rhayader and the Elan Valley Lakes are 17 miles away and Cwmystwyth and the Hafod Estate ate 27 miles away, tow incredible highlights of Mid Wales.
